Somali myth.:
Category: Default
Somali intellectual and traditional leaders have thrown the nation into abyss with good intention! Somali people perceived themselves as one tribe that shares common culture. The intellectuals and traditionalist took this notion into their heart and tried to create a nation with new identity and new concept. The chieftains wanted to sacrifice the history of the society and their real composition, and this caused the chieftains to face a loud and violent opposition from large segment of the society. These clashes frustrated the chieftains, confused the serfs, and forced the nation into sleeper-slope. The chiefs with their noble intention failed to sugar-coat their idea, and they chose to bury the past at any cost. The people in Somalia are ethnically from different part of the world. Some people crossed over the ocean with the intension of establishing a gate way into Africa. Others Somali’s came into this oasis for grazing and sanctuary.

A nation in serious condition!:

I sometimes wonder about someone saying.”I am from Somalia”. Does that mean a territory, people, or a nation? As far as I know there are no such things at this moment. Somalia has gone into coma, and it is in the hands of intensive- care unit. The chances of survival are very slim. It had sustained a very serious head injury which led her into vegetative state. There were very few people who were aware the circumstances surrounding this tragic situation, and they have not come out with the truth yet. In that case, it is difficult to comprehend someone saying,” I am Somali”. That could be the person belongs to a group of people who share common physical appearance; some people who are feuding over a large real state; or a society that divided itself into many cults and fighting for their faith

Somali community in Nebraska:

It is wonderful to have a forum for Somali issues . As a chairman , I would like to welcome all views and opinions relating to refugee experience all over the world. I also would like to see a healthy discusion about Somali situation. Now , there is at least a light at the end of the tunnel. This time , all Somalians should focus on the rebuilding of a new nation with new concept and new identity. It is a difficult task to rebuild a failed state , but it is possible with little trust , honesty , and transparency.
