About The Omaha Somali American Community Association
OSACO is an organization based in Omaha, Nebraska And our mission is to
promote and protect the interest of Somali refugees in the state of Nebraska through
social, legal, and economic sphere. We will accomplish this by building links with
other non-governmental organizations in the region, and will provide a platform for
other concerned entities.
The Somali refugees are suffering from lack of medical care and lack of employment
opportunities, to name a few. We continue to learn and seek the appropriate resources
to meet our physical, mental and spiritual needs. Our goal is to build a community
that can stand on its feet, and is able to participate in the economic, social and
political activities in the state of Nebraska.
The Omaha Somali American Community Organization "(OSACO)" is a developing
human service Organization which connects Somali families with health, food, shelter,
legal, and educational resources.
We plan to meet the needs of the refugees by empowering them and their families
to achieve their goals. We will accomplish this by developing a strong partnerships with
volunteers, staff and concern entities.
Because the Somali language and culture are unique,
the refugee needs can only be adequately met with the establishment of an organization
operated by Somalians. It is our sincere hope that this web site and the work begun by
OSACO will eventually lead to that end.
